The technique I use is a combination of painting and quilling. Sometimes I draw with strips of cardboard cut by hand and glued with great precision to create a figure or a flower. Other times I paint and apply the quilling technique to highlight part of the painting. I only use acrylic paints because it dries fast and I have more time for watermarking on paper. A painting made with the quilling technique requires many hours of work. The quilling technique, or paper filigram, is an art that involves the use of strips of paper shaped into various shapes and glued together to obtain wonderful decorative motifs. It appeared in ancient Egypt, when it was used for modeling papyrus, not paper. During the Renaissance, monks and nuns in Italy and France used the quilling technique to decorate books and religious objects. turning them into works of art. Starting from the 18th century, the quilling technique became an activity of interest to the ladies of high society, but also one of the artistic disciplines studied in the schools of the time. The paper is treated with a special varnish to make it shiny and resistant to atmospheric agents. The effect is amazing!
